Purpose
Viskrings are shrink sleeves used to provide a tamper-evident and counterfeit-proof secondary seal over a primary closure such as a cap or stopper. They are applied by hand and shrink quickly without heating to provide an attractive and effective tamper-evident seal.
Materials Used
Viskrings are made from cellulose which comes from wood pulp and are bio-degradable. Viskrings are stored in sealed tins or pails together with a preservative solution and shrink when they are left to dry naturally in the atmosphere to provide a tamper-evident and counterfeit proof seal.
Sizing
Standard sizes are from 18mm – 78 mm diameter and 10 mm – 100 cut length. Diameters between 79 mm and 104 mm can be manufactured to order. Please contact us with your requirements.
Straight Sided Containers:
Measure the widest point over which the seal must pass, then add 2mm.
For example, if the diameter of the cap is 50mm you should choose a seal of 52mm diameter. Please ensure that you have measured the diameter (across the cap or neck) and not the circumference (round the cap or neck).
Choose a length to suit the purpose but remember the 10% shrinkage which takes place in this direction when the seal is fully dry.
Conical Containers and More Complex Shapes: In these cases it is important that the difference between the smallest diameter and the largest diameter to be covered by the seal should not exceed 25%.
